Subject: Grunde Border Mon Jun 02, 2008 3:25 pm
This is a really simple effect but it looks awesome and this effect is used everywhere. Its a border , which I used in Frit's sig , but of course with some adjustments ;D. For this tut your going to need a .psd file so heres a mini tut on it: Mine image is going to be 500x500 and if you want the effect to be good , I advise you to make the .psd file the same. 1) Open a new image. ( Mines 500x500 )
2) Press "D" on your keyboard.
3) Go to Filter>Render>Difference Clouds.
4) Go to Filter>Artistic>Palette Knife.
5) Go to Filter>Artistic>Poster Edges.
6) Now duplicate the layer your on ( CTRL J ) and on the newly made layer go to Filter>Distort>Glass. Now go to Blending Mode in the layers and put it as "Overlay:
7) Now save the file as GrungeBorder.psd (MAKE SURE ITS .PSD!) GRUNGE BORDER TUTORIAL
Ok open a new image the same size as that .psd file. ( For me its 500x500) Use the Rectangular Marquee tool :
Now make a selection such as :
Now right click the area selected and press "Select Inverse".
Now Fill it with Black ( Using the pain bucket tool ) Press "CRTL D" To deselect.
Now go to Filter>Distort>Displace , click Okay/Yes. It will ask you where the displacement Image is , direct it to the GrungeBorder.psd Well thats it ! You can try repeating it by pressing CRTL F. Or maybe making it look cooler by using a large soft ( 0% Hardness eraser) Heres what I got :
Enjoy! And if something went wrong/Don't understand tell me !
